PAINT MY CAT
Welcome back to
(meow...)
CURIOUS?
It was such a bold and assumptive directive that I thought it would be a laugh to follow through. And it was. It was also permission for more people to ask for cat paintings. Some of you even said 'please'. I initially resisted this premature call to the life of the cat lady, but the people need me.
And so, Paint My Cat was born:
A stranger commented 'paint my cat' on one of my TikTok posts.
The TikTok series where you post a picture in the comments, I paint it, and it does not have to be a cat.
ABOUT THE PAINTINGS
I paint what I want & you pay what you want
AND IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A CAT!
HI! We're in a mutually beneficial relationship! Isn't that cool?
I've been a commission artist since I was a teenager. Having people want to pay you to do your favourite thing is a massive privilege, but I've found there to be inescapable complications regarding workload and pricing that knock the wind out of my sails and turn something I adore into a major source of stress.
That's why Paint My Cat works so well for me; neither of us are under any obligation. There's no deadline looming over my head and no obligation to continue painting something I'm struggling with. There's no awkwardness around what to charge.
I love the scale, I love painting alla prima, I love the endless stream of references to choose from. I love that I get to surprise people every day.
There's no commitment on your end either. If you don't like the painting, you don't need to buy it. If you do like the painting, you pay what you're comfortable paying. For some people, that's £10, for others it's £100.
As long as I'm not out of pocket with the shipping costs, I'll send you your painting. There's no trick to it.

5"x7"(ish) MDF(usually saved from the skip)
I get scrap MDF that would otherwise be discarded from local film studios. They're not always exactly 5 by 7 inches, hence the ish. It's usually only a few mm discrepancy.
I don't think I can tell you more than that due to NDA's. Mysterious, right?
If and when they run out, they're bought from Jackson's.
SHIPPING COSTS
Royal mail shipping in the UK is £2.90 for 48 hour tracked.
I buy my packaging in bulk from Kite Packaging - an employee-share ownership carbon neutral company - and 100% of my packaging is 100% recyclable.
My packaging costs about 78p per painting shipment.
So the minimum cost to cover UK shipping is £3.68.
I'll update here when I've had more experience shipping outside of the UK...
Drying time
I paint with oil paint. It usually takes a week or two for the piece to be dry enough to ship.
